The Centre Esplai hostel has renewed for another year the distinction of the Commitment to Tourism Sustainability Program and the Baix Llobregat Tourist Information Point (PIT) seal, in an event held in Gavà on March 12.
This double recognition reaffirms our commitment to a responsible, sustainable tourism model aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations, as promoted by the Biosphere program managed by the Baix Llobregat Tourism Consortium.
These accreditations highlight the work we do every day as an eco-lodge near Barcelona, making us a benchmark that is respectful of the planet and people in the region.
An eco-lodge committed to sustainability
At Centre Esplai, sustainability is part of our DNA. We have Biosphere and EMAS certification, with a building designed to reduce environmental impact and integrate measures such as energy saving, water reuse or solar energy production.
In addition, we promote actions such as recycling, sustainable mobility or responsible catering, to offer an experience consistent with more conscious and environmentally friendly tourism.
Did you know that we also have a Mediterranean garden that follows criteria of respect for the environment? A beautiful green oasis that has a river inspired by the local ecosystem of the Llobregat Delta, green spaces to rest under the shade of trees and lawns that are watered with reclaimed rainwater.
What is Biosphere certification?
The Biosphere certification is an international seal managed by the Institute for Responsible Tourism (ITR) and implemented in Catalonia through the Barcelona Provincial Council, the Chamber of Commerce and regional tourism consortia, such as the Baix Llobregat Tourism Consortium.
This certification recognizes companies, entities, services and tourist destinations that:
- They integrate good sustainability practices into their daily management.
- They align their activity with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
- They apply criteria that favor the environment, social inclusion, responsible economic practices and cultural respect.
Its aim is to ensure that tourism is sustainable in the long term, minimizing negative impacts and maximizing benefits for the community.
Tourist Information Point (PIT)
In addition, we have once again renewed the Tourist Information Point seal, which strengthens the network of attention to visitors with facilities and companies that contribute to improving their reception and providing tourist information in the territory. At Centre Esplai we are characterized by offering close, human and quality attention , as well as providing routes, activities and plans in the metropolitan area with an environmental perspective.
